Casey Ryan

Casey Ryan was named head coach of the Forester women's lacrosse program in July of 2023 after five years as an assistant coach at the collegiate level.

Under Ryan's direction, the Foresters won a program record 14 games against just four losses and finished second in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference with a 5-1 record in league play. A goal with just 26.9 seconds on the clock gave Lake Forest a dramatic 15-14 victory in the MLC Tournament final at College of Saint Benedict and sent the Foresters to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Ali Graham was named MLC Midfielder of the Year and Ryleigh Nelson MLC Attacker of the Year in 2024. They were joined by Jenna Doctor, Savannah Frauhiger, and Ella Maher as First Team All-MWC selections and Ryan was voted MLC Coach of the Year. Graham was also a First Team All-Great Lakes Region selection by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association while Nelson and Frauhiger were named to the second team.

Graham, Nelson, Frauhiger, and Doctor were also among nine Foresters named to the MLC All-Academic Team.

Ryan came to Lake Forest from NCAA Division I University of Akron, where she was an assistant coach for two seasons. She led the program's recruiting efforts and served as defensive coordinator for the Zips program that began play in 2019-20. Ryan was also instrumental in planning team practices and individual training sessions, scouting opponents, coordinating academic advisement for 35 student-athletes, and assisting in the management of day-to-day team operations.

Prior to her time at Akron, Ryan spent three seasons as the defensive coordinator at Division III Wittenberg University, where she assisted the head coach in nearly all aspects of the program. She also earned her master's degree in coaching and sports administration from Wittenberg in 2020.

Ryan's coaching experience also includes several successful seasons at the club level in Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Ryan graduated from Beloit College, which like Lake Forest, is a member of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest. She played four years for the Buccaneers and was a Second Team All-Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference selection as a junior. The two-year captain still ranks among the top five in program history with 101 ground balls and 60 caused turnovers during her career. The psychology major earned her degree in 2018.

Also a graduate of nearby Libertyville High School, Ryan was a dual sport athlete for the Wildcats, playing lacrosse and running cross country.
