Tournament Format:
Youth Divisions (U9, U11, U13, U15) will be split into A and B Divisions.
Teams in each division will play each other in pool play for the first three games.
Teams will be seeded based on their win-loss record in pool play.
The fourth game for each team will be a final matchup with #1 vs. #2 (Championship game), #3 vs. #4 (3
rd
and 4
th
place game), an so on.
Game Play:
All NFHS and 2014/2015 US Lacrosse Youth rules apply including:
Players must wear required goalie and field player equipment- helmets, arm pads, shoulder pads, gloves, mouth guards).
Unnecessary roughness penalties are non-releasable.
Checks to the head/neck may result in multiple minutes and/or non-releasable.
Stick checks, body checks, legal holds and legal pushed must be on a player with the ball or within 3 yards of a loose ball.
No take out checks.
24 minute halves (3 minute halftime)
If goal differential is 3 goals or less, the clock is start/stop under 2 minutes.
Teams are allowed 1 timeout per game (1 minute- clock stops).
Referees will keep game time- Penalty time kept in the box (penalty is start/stop)
If a tie occurs, the game will continue after a 1 minute break with 1 sudden victory overtime period (no time outs allowed in overtime). Games will result in a tie if both teams remain scoreless and the overtime period has reached 3 minutes.
There are no pregame stick checks, though coaches may request a stick check for a specific player in game. If the stick is found to be legal, the requesting team is charged with a timeout. If the requesting team does not have any timeouts remaining, a delay of game technical foul will be charged.
All teams with a lead must keep the ball in the box during the last 2 minutes of the game. Teams that appear to be stalling at any point in a game will be warned to keep the ball in the box.
The final 2 minute stall rule will be enforced in U13 and U15 Divisions, but waived in U9 and U11 Divisions.
Sportsmanship
Coaches, parents and players are expected to treat their opponents and referees with respect before, during and after each game.
Players and coaches who are ejected from a game will forfeit their opportunity to play or coach in their team’s next game as well.
Players with 4 fouls in one game will be disqualified for the remainder of the game.
