Hannah Khin

Hannah Khin was named the inaugural head women's lacrosse coach at the University of Massachusetts Boston in July of 2023.

"This is a great day for UMass Boston Athletics and our women's lacrosse program. To have the opportunity to hire a head coach for a first-year program with the credentials that Hannah has speaks to the special place that we have here in Beaconville" said Schuman. "During the search process, Coach Khin quickly rose to the top of our list as someone we knew could come in and build a competitive program immediately."

Khin comes to the harbor campus after serving as the head women's lacrosse coach at Occidental College in Los Angeles, California, for the previous five seasons.

"I would like to thank Dr. Schuman and the search committee for entrusting me to start and build the women's lacrosse program at UMass Boston and I'm excited to begin to recruit the inaugural class. UMass Boston's competitive athletic programs, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and location really stood out to me, and I look forward to joining the Beacons Athletic Department," said Khin.

Khin, who spent three years as Occidental's top assistant (2015-2017), returned to take the reins of the Tigers program after spending the 2018 season at Southwestern University, where she served as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator.

As the head coach at Occidental, Khin guided the Tigers to four Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) post-season appearances. In 2019 Khin, and her staff, were recognized as the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year and had five players garner All-Conference honors and fourteen named to the SCIAC All-Academic team.

"I'm so pleased to extend a warm Beacon welcome to Hannah. We are excited that Coach Khin will be leading our women's lacrosse program in our inaugural season. I have no doubt that her leadership, experience, and coaching acumen will guide our student-athletes and make all Beacons proud," said UMass Boston Chancellor Dr. Marcelo Suárez-Orozco.

Khin holds a BA in psychology from Goucher College (MD) and a master's degree in developmental psychopathology from Durham University (UK).

During her four-year career at Goucher, Khin amassed 205 career goals, was a four-time Landmark All-Conference selection, and was an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaching Association (IWLCA) Regional All-American in 2013. While receiving her master's degree at Durham, Khin led her team to the 2014 Northern Premier League championship.
