Erik Ingram

Vice President of Athletics, Scott Swain announced on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the hiring of Erik Ingram as the first ever head women's lacrosse coach in Point Park Athletics' history.

"Our search committee and myself were very impressed with Erik's knowledge of the game and of lacrosse within our region. With our entry into the Mountain East Conference and NCAA Division II, Erik will be passionate leader for our program through our transition. His recruiting ability and positive enthusiasm will make him a perfect fit for our Pioneer Athletic Family" stated Vice President of Athletics Scott Swain.

Erik Ingram will be coming to Point Park from Geneva College where he is no stranger to building a women's lacrosse program from scratch. In 2023 Ingram was hired as the first women's lacrosse head coach at Geneva where he was tasked with building the program from scratch and while also focusing on recruiting the initial class that will help prepare the program to begin competition in the President's Athletic Conference in the spring of 2025.

"I want to thank Scott Swain and Point Park University for this amazing opportunity. With the move to NCAA Division II along with some current and future changes in athletics, it is an exciting time to be at Point Park University and I can't wait to get started" stated Ingram when asked about his hiring.

Before he was hired at Geneva, Ingram served as the girl's lacrosse assistant head coach at Fox Chapel High School for six seasons where he helped guide Fox Chapel to the playoffs all six seasons.

Ingram has also been an Assessor for USA Lacrosse with their National High School Program while also holding Level 1 Certification and is a member of the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Ingram is no stranger to success as he also had served time as the head coach for the Fox Chapel boys program since 2006 where he amassed over 200 career wins. He also was the Head Women's Soccer Coach for the Steel City Sparks which is a women's semi-professional team.

Building a foundation for a program is something Ingram has experience at multiple levels as he also served as the assistant women's soccer coach at the University of Pittsburgh from 1997 to 2003 where Ingram helped build a foundation during the first years of the program.

Ingram is a University of Pittsburgh graduate where he graduated with a Bachelors in Social Science while then obtaining his Masters of Education from Slippery Rock University.

Ingram is a native to the Pittsburgh area as he is a graduate of Plum Senior High school and now currently resides in Fox Chapel with his wife, their son, and three dogs.

Soccer in College gave me a good point of reference for perspective coaches, somewhere I could direct them to see all of my data, in a well-organized, efficient manner. It was a good tool for my recruiting efforts.
