Last Season

Martin made an immediate positive impact on the program in her first year, culminating with the program’s first-ever postseason win, a 16-15 overtime thriller on the road against Centre. It marked the first time Oglethorpe advanced to the semifinals of the SAA tournament in the 11-year history of the program.

Oglethorpe’s 11-6 overall record in Martin’s first season saw the team record 11 wins for the second straight year, both representing the program high for wins.

Martin, a former goalie herself, helped sophomore stopper Tori Perez earn distinction as an all-conference first team member and IWLCA all-region honoree. Perez became only the third Stormy Petrel named to the all-conference first team, and she was the first to be named all-region.

Prior to Oglethorpe

Martin, also a 2014 Berry graduate, served the Viking women’s lacrosse program in numerous areas during her two seasons in Rome. She assisted in developing practice and game plans, implemented new defensive and goalie strategy, trained individual skill sessions, created new scouting report formats and film breakdown sessions, planned and organized recruiting events, and helped connect Berry’s alumni network.

Martin also assisted the team off the field by overseeing study halls and academic meetings, and she created social media content to promote the program.

Berry finished fifth in the SAA both seasons Martin assisted and posted a winning record of 9-6 during her last season with the Vikings.

Before Berry, Martin spent two years in Connecticut where she coached the Nor’easters Lacrosse Club and was the head coach of the University of Bridgeport women’s lacrosse team. This followed a 1 ½ -year stint in Massachusetts where Martin served as assistant coach for Framingham State University, as well as Wayland Girls Lacrosse. She also served as the director of goalkeeping for the Bay State Bullets Lacrosse Club.

Prior to her time in Connecticut, Martin spent a year and a half year in Massachusetts where she served as assistant coach for varsity girls’ lacrosse at Wayland High School, assistant coach for women’s lacrosse at Framingham State, assistant coach for Central Massachusetts Lacrosse Club, and director of goalkeeping for the Bay State Bullets Lacrosse Club.

Framingham State won the MASCAC regular season championship in 2018, Martin’s first season there.

Martin also has served as head women’s lacrosse coach for Wilmington College in Ohio and graduate assistant women’s lacrosse coach for Castleton University in Vermont. With Castleton, Martin helped lead the team to the North Atlantic Conference championship and NCAA tournament appearances in 2016 and 2017, and she helped coach three individuals to player of the year, defensive player of the year, and scholar athlete of the year.

Despite spending several years in the northeast, Martin has many roots in Georgia. While attending Berry, Martin served in assistant camp director roles at Emory and Berry, and she also had the opportunity to coach LB3 Atlanta Lacrosse Club in Atlanta shortly after graduating. With LB3 Atlanta, Martin coached the U19 elite girls lacrosse team and assisted in the recruiting process of several players to NCAA Division I universities.

Martin’s first year out of college saw her live in England for one year where she served as a development officer for English Lacrosse Association in Uppingham, England.

Martin graduated from Berry with a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education in 2014. She later earned her Master of Science degree in athletic leadership from Castleton University in 2017.

Martin earned a position as a four-year starter at goalie for the Berry lacrosse team, during which time she was team captain, made the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association honor roll and won the 2014 SAA sportsmanship award.

I have used the Soccer in College site for 8 years, and it has helped me keep my personal and soccer information up to date, and has helped be track college contacts and interest. I think the site helped me prepare for college offers, and helped me determine that I wanted to play for UNC.
