Racquel Prager enters her second season as the head coach of the Newberry women's lacrosse program.
Director of Athletics Ralph Patterson announced the hiring of Racquel Prager to lead the Wolves' women's lacrosse program in January 2019.
"This is a very important hire for Newberry College," Patterson stated, "and I'm excited that Racquel has accepted the opportunity to build a winning women's lacrosse program."
"I'm grateful for the opportunity that Newberry and Ralph have given me," Prager added, "and I'm excited to be a part of the Newberry Family."
Prager came to Newberry from Division I Gardner-Webb, where she began working as an assistant coach focusing on defense and recruiting in August. Prior to Gardner-Webb, Prager spent five seasons as the head coach at Dorman High School in Spartanburg County.
The Cavaliers won back-to-back Region III-5A championships in 2017 and 2018 under Prager's tutelage. She also took home a pair of Region Coach of the Year honors while serving as a math teacher within the school district.
Prager also spent three years coaching with Greenville's Greenlight Lacrosse Club, mentoring girls ages 8-11, and was South Carolina's National Team Coach in 2018.
The New York native had a stellar playing career for Limestone from 2009-12. She was a two-time All-American, including earning first-team distinction in 2012, and was named Conference Carolinas Female Athlete of the Year the previous season. She was named all-conference three times, won two Conference Carolinas Tournament MVP awards, and was named to the league's All-Academic Team for three consecutive seasons.
Prager graduated from Limestone in 2012 with a degree in Elementary Education and earned a Master's degree in Middle Levels Mathematics in 2014 from Converse.
