ASTON, Pa. – Neumann University Director of Athletics and Recreation Chuck Sack has announced the hiring of Liz Martin as the Neumann University head women's lacrosse coach.
Martin takes over the program from former head coach Christy Malone Fleagle, who has transitioned into a full-time athletic director position at Neumann. The new coach arrives at Neumann after years of experience coaching lacrosse across the region. She has worked at both the Division I and Division III levels collegiately, most recently at Rutgers University – Camden where she served as both an assistant and head coach in her four years involved with the team. Additionally, Martin also has over eight years of experience as a Division I assistant, helping to guide programs at Marist College, University of Delaware and Saint Joseph's University.
Director of Athletics and Recreation, Chuck Sack, stated, "As a community we are excited to welcome Liz to the position of head women's lacrosse coach. Her vision and energy for the opportunity are fantastic. Adding her knowledge, skills and abilities to the opportunity make us very confident that her leadership will deepen and expand our institutional values into our women's lacrosse student-athlete experience."
In addition to her coaching expertise, Martin was also a standout performer herself in both soccer and lacrosse at Temple University. The 2004 Temple graduate was named a First Team All-Atlantic 10 performer in lacrosse in both the 2001 and 2002 seasons, while also being named the Atlantic 10 tournament most outstanding player in each of those seasons. Her performance on the field also helped to lead the Owls to the NCAA tournament in both of those seasons.
"It is an honor and privilege to be named the head women's lacrosse coach at Neumann University. The mission and core values of the University are very important to me. I'd like to thank Athletic Director Chuck Sack and President Dr. Chris Domes for putting their trust in me to take over the women's lacrosse program. I am thankful for the opportunity to lead this Women's Lacrosse program forward. This is a wonderful opportunity for my family and I and we can't wait to get started as a part of the Neumann family."
