James Davis

Davis comes to Missouri Valley after developing and coaching high school and club girls lacrosse in Tennessee over several years. He has started girls lacrosse programs at William Blount (Tenn.), Heritage (Tenn.) and Alcoa (Tenn.) high schools. In addition, he started the club team, Chaos, in Maryville, Tenn. Participation has grown from 12 players to nearly 60 players under the leadership of Davis.

“I am excited to see what can be built at Missouri Valley,” said Davis. “There is a good foundation, and I am looking forward to getting started and building up this program to new heights. I want to thank Athletic Director Mike Machholz for giving me this opportunity and his support.”

Davis has prior coaching experience in football, basketball, baseball and softball. He was also a participant and a coach in the Highland Games, and placed tenth in the Men’s Masters Championship of the Highland Games. He also served in the Marine Corps., as a Corporal E4, and was based at both Camp Lejeune and Okinawa.

“We are excited about James Davis,” said Athletic Director Mike Machholz. “He has been instrumental in starting girls lacrosse in the state of Tennessee and we felt he can springboard that knowledge into getting our program to not only a competitive level, but reach loftier goals. He has three daughters that play the sport and is invested in its success from a much different perspective than any of our previous coaches. Our student-athletes are excited and ready to go. We expect him to be on campus in the next week or so, but meanwhile he is back home in Tennessee recruiting for this spring so we can add to our existing program. Valley is on the move with women’s lacrosse, for sure!”

Davis has an associates degree from Fountain Head in health sciences. He and his wife, Shanna, have four children, Hailey, Emily, Zander and Caroline.

Didn't have a long-term experience with the site, however I found it more user friendly than CaptainU, which I had used in the past.
