"I am thankful and honored to be named head women's lacrosse coach at the University of Mary Washington, and I would like to thank Dr. Juliette Landphair and Athletic Director Patrick Catullo for this amazing opportunity", said Taghon. "I am so excited to inherit a program that has such a long-standing tradition of success, and above all I am very grateful to continue working with this incredible group of young women. I look forward to continuing to lead this program to success both on and off the field. Go Eagles!"

Taghon served for two seasons as assistant coach at UMW in 2019 and 2020. Drew Delaney

Drew Delaney enters his eighth season as the head men's lacrosse coach at the University of Mary Washington. Delaney has coached collegiately for 19 years and spent one season coaching at the interscholastic level.

In his time at UMW, Delaney has mentored one USILA All-American Honorable Mention, two USILA Scholar All-Americans, three VaSID All State honorees, and players have been selected eleven times as All-Conference honorees. UMW has reached the conference playoffs each year (excluding 2020 and 2021 COVID cancellations) reaching the conference semifinals twice. Additionally, under Delaney’s supervision, student-athletes have been named to the Conference All-Academic team 91 times. UMW has also received Conference Player of the Week honors seven times.

Prior to coming to Fredericksburg, Delaney spent three years as head coach at Elizabethtown College, from 2014-16. He posted a 33-16 record during that time, including a 26-9 mark the last two years, going undefeated in league regular season play in each of those years. In 2016, the Blue Jays finished with a 12-6 record and advanced to the Landmark Conference championship game. In 2015, the Blue Jays won a school record 14 games (14-3) and finished the regular season unbeaten in conference play (7-0) for the first time. Over Delaney’s tenure, two Blue Jays were recognized as USILA All-America Honorable Mention, two USILA Scholar All-Americans, and 13 players were recognized as All-Conference, including the 2014 Rookie of the Year. The Elizabethtown coaching staff was selected as the Coaching Staff of the Year in 2015.

The first head coach in Arcadia University history, Delaney spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons constructing the program from scratch. In their first varsity season, the Knights won five games and were competitive against their MAC Freedom Conference foes. Delaney mentored three all-conference selections and the league Rookie of the Year. His first year at Arcadia was also his first working as an advanced scout for the Charlotte Hounds of Major League Lacrosse (MLL). In just their second year, the Hounds secured a playoff win against the top seeded and then undefeated Denver Outlaws, 17-14. Charlotte fell short of the Steinfeld Cup losing 10-9 to the Chesapeake Bayhawks.

Delaney began his coaching career as an assistant at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio. In his single season (2003-04) for the Pioneers, the team accomplished a dramatic turnaround and reached the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Association championship game. He then spent three years (2004-07) as an assistant coach at Washington & Lee University, mentoring four Generals recognized as USILA All-America Honorable Mention, as well as 16 All-Conference Honorees.

In the summer of 2007, Delaney became the defensive coordinator and Face-off coach at Division II Limestone College. In three seasons, the Saints reached the DII Final Four in each season. Following his time at Limestone, Delaney spent one season at Washington College serving as the defensive coordinator.

Delaney is a 2003 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College. During his time in Lancaster, he was a four-year letter winner for the Diplomats on defense. Over his four seasons, F&M reached the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals in 2003, won an ECAC Championship in 2002, and was an ECAC runner-up in 2001.
