Sarah Quigley

A 2014 alum of Lycoming College and the captain of the Spanish National Team at the 2022 World Women's Lacrosse Championships, Sarah Quigley is set for her fifth year as the head coach of the women’s lacrosse team in 2024.

Despite the 2020 and 2021 seasons being severely altered due to the pandemic, Quigley has helped the Warriors make two appearances in the postseason and coached seven all-conference picks, two conference rookies of the year and helped the team to back-to-back .500 or better seasons for the first time since 2017.

Quigley spearheaded a dramatic turnaround in the Warriors in 2022, as the team finished 10-9 overall and reached the semifinals of the MAC Freedom Championship, defeating DeSales in a conference tournament first round game at UPMC Field. The Warriors featured four all-conference players, including MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year Katie Maguire.

She continued that run in 2023, as the Warriors finished 9-9 overall and again reached the semifinals of the MAC Freedom Championship thanks to an 11-9 win over Arcadia in the first round of the tournament. The Warriors had three all-conference players and MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year Riley Block.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Lycoming College in 2014, Quigley returned to New City, N.Y., where she became the varsity girls’ lacrosse coach at Hastings High School before moving to Clarkstown South in 2017, where she served as the head coach for the past three seasons. She also coached with the Clarkstown Lightning club program and Dip N Dunk Lacrosse.

In 2018, while finishing a Master of Social Work from New York University, she joined the Spanish National Team, where she served as captain of the team at the European Lacrosse Championships, helping the team to a 4-3 record. Since joining the team, Quigley has scored 19 goals in the team's 12 games, leading the squad.

Quigley was a four-year starter for the Warriors, finishing her career with 55 points and two game-winning goals, including a thrilling last-minute score in a 17-16 win over Albright in 2012. Quigley was valuable in nearly every aspect of the game, as she also scooped up 109 ground balls, picked up 50 draw controls and caused 21 turnovers in her career.

What they are saying about Coach Quigley

“Sarah was a coach’s dream. She was hardworking, coachable, selfless and dedicated. She was the type of player that always put the team first. Sarah was a true leader for Lycoming lacrosse during her playing years, and I am excited to see her take over as the head coach. With all of Sarah’s qualities as a captain and a player, there is no doubt in my mind that she will thrive as Lycoming Lacrosse’s next head coach." - Lindsay Reese, Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, Lock Haven University, former Lycoming College women’s lacrosse coach

“Sarah was a dedicated and loyal player. She displayed consistent work ethic and always led her team with great communication and was hungry for success. As a player, Sarah always had a mature, healthy and well-rounded perspective. She will find great success as a head coach because her players will learn from her gracious and competitive example. Lycoming is lucky to have her back!” - Chrissy Trescavage, Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, University of Scranton, former Lycoming College women’s lacrosse coach

“From the first time I met Sarah in Madrid, about 8 months before the European Championships, I knew she would add a great deal to the program. Lacrosse in Spain is in its infancy and Sarah brings something special to the table - her experience as both a player and a coach makes her a natural leader on the team. Other squad members look to her for both guidance and inspiration and showed this en masse in voting for her as one of the captains for the European Championships.

Having Sarah as a player is having someone you can turn to in big moments, who you know wants it as much as you do and who will always stay calm even in tight situations. I am confident that she will bring many of the same qualities to coaching at Lycoming- calm, controlled, and committed. Sarah is the sort of lacrosse brain I am confident will be as big an asset on the sideline as she is on the field for Spain.” - Georgie Hurt, Head Coach, Spanish National Team
