Courtney Novak

Courtney Novak was named Edgewood College's women's lacrosse head coach prior to the start of the 2023 season. She became the second head coach in Edgewood College history.


During the 2023 season, Novak led the Eagles return to the NACC Tournament for the second time in program history. Novak has coached a total of four All-NACC honorees through the 2023 season.


Novak separated herself as a top candidate to lead this program. She has a real passion for lacrosse and comes from Northern Vermont University - Lyndon where she spent the last two years responsible for both the men's and women's lacrosse programs as Director of Lacrosse. Novak also served as interim head volleyball coach at Lyndon during the 2022 season.


Novak brings an extensive coaching background in lacrosse at all levels of the sport. Her first coaching job came while she was earning her undergraduate degree at Ursinus College. She served as a coach at Spring-Ford High School in Royersford, Pa. She has experience with the club lacrosse scene in both New Jersey with T3 Elite Lacrosse, and with SoCal Express and Beach Cities Youth Lacrosse in California. From 2018-2021, Novak served as the varsity girls lacrosse coach at Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, Calif. Prior to her time at Lyndon, Novak served as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at Chapman University in Orange, Calif.


Novak was a member of the Ursinus College women's lacrosse team from 2013 to 2014. Ultimately, her career was cut short due to injury, but she started 12 games a defender for the Bears. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Ursinus in 2017. Novak then went on to earn her Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Long Beach State University in 2019. Her thesis was titled: The Relationship between Social Support and Fear of Reinjury in Recovering Female Collegiate Athletes.


Novak attended Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren, N.J. She was a three-year starter on the varsity team. She was named First Team All Skyland Conference, Second-Team All-Area, and Academic All-American in 2013. She also earned Second Team All-Area Skyland Conference in 2012 and Honorable Mention All-Area in 2011.
