Kathleen Finnegan

Kathleen Finnegan enters her third year as the Drew University women's lacrosse head coach in 2022-23. She served as interim head coach in the spring of 2021, and was also the program's assistant coach from 2018-20.

In 2022, Finnegan directed Drew to the Landmark Conference Championship tournament, marking the team's sixth-consecutive conference playoff appearance, while the team finished 11-6 and 4-3 in the Landmark standings. Following the season, five of her players earned All-Landmark Conference honors, including two who also captured IWLCA All-Boardwalk Region accolades.

One year earlier, Finnegan guided three Rangers to All-Landmark Conference recognition in a season that was abbreviated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of those players - midfielder Allie DiDario - became just the second player in program history to be named First-Team All-Landmark in four separate years.

As an assistant coach, Finnegan helped lead Drew to back-to-back Landmark Conference playoff appearances in 2018-19. In her second year with the team in 2019, she helped the Rangers to one of the program's most successful seasons in recent history. The Blue and Green posted the second-best start in program history, opening the year with 12 straight victories, and would go on to post their first two postseason victories in five years, defeating Neumann and Marymount to reach the final of the ECAC Division III Championships. Drew finished the year with a record of 16-5, tying the program record for victories in a season. The team made its mark as a powerful offensive unit, breaking the school record for goals with 307 tallies.

A 2016 graduate of Arcadia University, Finnegan was a four-year letterwinner in both lacrosse and field hockey for the Knights. In lacrosse, she played in 73 career games and was a two-time Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) All-Academic Team selection. She served as captain of the women’s lacrosse team during her senior season and was the Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Finnegan began her coaching career at Watchung Hill Regional High School in 2016. She was the head coach of the JV girls’ lacrosse team and an assistant coach with the varsity squad. She also served as an assistant coach for the field hockey program, working with all three levels (freshman, JV, varsity).
