Rob Grella

Coach Grella was hired in August of 2020 as the fourth head coach in program history.


Most recently, Grella was the head varsity girls lacrosse coach at Shore Regional High School and is also the director of operations for the Team 91 NJ Girls Lacrosse Program.


Prior to that he spent four years at Middletown High School South as the head varsity boys lacrosse coach where they won the Public A-North Conference Championship in 2018 and 2019.


Grella began his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater where he spent three years at the helm of one of the top Division II programs in the country. In his time there, the Panthers made three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament, earned a spot in the Final Four in 2013 and won the team's sixth NCAA Division II National Championship in 2014.


His coaching career began in 2007 as he was the head varsity girls lacrosse coach at Summit High School. During his time there, his teams won three Union County Championships and were a three-time New Jersey State Sectional Finalists in 2009, 2010, 2011.


Among his honors received, Grella was named the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Coach of the Year and the U.S. Lacrosse Magazine Women's Coach of the Year in 2014. He was also a two-time Union County Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year and a Union County Boys Soccer Coach of the Year.


A 1997 and 2004 graduate of Adelphi University, Grella was a four-year member of the men's lacrosse team and a two-time First-Team All-American selection. He was inducted into the Adelphi University Hall of Fame in 2010.

Daniel Steigert

Coach Steigert enters his sixth season at the helm of the Chargers program and his tenth season on staff for the 2022-2023 season. He spent four years as an assistant/associate head coach and was named the interim head coach for the 2018 season. In July of 2019 the interim title was removed. Coach Steigert handles all of the day-to-day operations of the program, including recruiting, practice and game plans and academic success of student-athletes.


Coach Steigert currently sits on the USILA National Top 20 Committee and USILA All-American Committee.


In Addition to his duties at Dominican, Coach Steigert is currently an assistant coach and offensive coordinator of the French National Lacrosse Team based in Paris, France. Steigert has also spent time coaching with the New York Reign Lacrosse Club based out of New Windsor, N.Y, South Shore Lacrosse Camps on Long Island, Brine All-American Teams and serves as the Director of the Dominican Youth Lacrosse camps and clinics.


Under Coach Steigert, the Chargers made their first playoff appearance in program history in 2019 reaching the CACC Semi-Finals and returned to the Semi-Finals again in 2021 and 2022.


Numerous players have received All Conference honors and national recognition under Coach Steigert. Most Notably, Kyle Souza received First Team All-CACC Honors in 2018, making him the first player in program history to receive First Team Honors. In addition to All Conference Honors, Souza received Academic All-American Honors in 2018 and 2019. The 2019 season saw a total of four players receive All-CACC honors with Marcos Pierce and Stephen Falco making first team, Kyle Souza and Nicholas D’Alessandro making second team. In 2021, three players received All-CACC Second Team honors, Marcos Pierce, Luke Martini and Daniel Carson. The 2022 Season saw one player, Bryan O’Loughlin receive first team All-CACC Honors.


Two Chargers have also received USILA North Region Honors, qualifying them for All American. Marcos Pierce received honorable mention midfielder in 2021 and Bryan O’Loughlin received honorable mention defender in 2022.


7 Different Student-Athletes have also received CACC All Academic Team honors under Steigert’s tenure.


Prior to joining the coaching staff, Steigert spent four seasons (2010-2013) as a member of the men's lacrosse team. A team captain during the 2012-2013 season, Steigert was a leader both on and off the field for the Chargers. He was the 2013 recipient of the Dominican College Men's Lacrosse Coach's Award. A 2013 graduate of DC, Steigert earned a B.S. in Marketing Management. He was also a four-year member of the Dominican College Business Club.


Currently, Coach Steigert resides in Valley Cottage, N.Y.
