A CCBC women's lacrosse alumni, Schroeder was a student-athlete at CCBC Catonsville in 2005 and 2006. In 2005, Schroeder and the Cardinals won the NJCAA National Championship and were national runners-up the following season. As a sophomore captain, Schroeder earned All NJCAA Region XX and All Maryland JUCO Conference Player of the Year honors, and was selected to the NJCAA All-American First Team and NJCAA Lacrosse Championship All Tournament Team.
