Kris Stewart

Kris Stewart enters his 12th year as the head basketball coach at Brenau University and his 25th overall year in coaching.


While at Brenau, Stewart has coached eight All-Conference selections, 56 Conference All-Academic players, seven All-Freshman selections, one conference Defensive Player of the Year and one NAIA All-American player. In the 2018-2019 season, the team won 20 games- the most in the program's history.


From 1998-2000, Stewart served as an assistant basketball coach at Freedom High School in Morganton, North Carolina. He also coached football and track while teaching in the English department.


From 2000-2002, he was named first assistant at Division III Austin College in Sherman, TX under head coach Deb Hunter. Following his time in Texas, he spent five years as the head coach at Forbush High School in East Bend, NC. In his first year at Forbush, he was named Mountain Valley 2A Coach of the Year. From 2002-2007, Stewart compiled a 74-42 record and reached the state playoffs five times.


From 2007-2011, Stewart returned to his alma mater, Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. While at Lees-McRae, he served as the Director of Residence Life, worked in Instructional Technology and taught in the Teacher Education department. He also served as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball program.


A graduate of Duluth High School in Duluth, GA, Stewart holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Lees-McRae College and a master’s degree in Education from the University of Missouri. At Brenau, he also serves as the Sports Information Director and Interim Lacrosse Coach. Stewart resides in Gainesville, GA with his wife Holly and their two daughters, Hannah and Taylor.

Taylor Love

Taylor Love returns to her alma mater as the assistant coach for the 2022-23 lacrosse season.


Love joined Brenau athletics as a track & field athlete up until her junior year when she switched to the Golden Tigers Lacrosse team.


In her first season of play, Love started in goal and helped the team make the AAC conference tournament for the first time in program history. During her senior season, she played midfield and goalie.


Love graduated with her B.A. in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and Digital Technologies from Brenau in 2022.


Outside of athletics, she was involved on campus as a Resident Assistant, Golden Guide, Athletics work study student, and an active member of her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha.
