George Counes

George Counes was named the Head Women's Lacrosse coach at Beloit College for the 2022 season.


Since taking over, he has brought new life to the program, coaching them to their first Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference post season and championship appearance in the 2024 season. That season, the team also boasted nine wins, their most since the 2015 season.


Counes has coached five different All-NACC players, including Maggie Mudd who was named the 2024 NACC Freshman of the Year.


Counes brings a wealth of coaching experience to the field, having served as Defensive Coordinator for Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) from 2013-22. Prior to that, he coached five years as Men's Head Coach at Middleton High School for five years, winning two MALA Coach of the Year awards. He has also served as men's head coach at University of Miami for two years and as men's defensive coordinator at Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y.


Counes attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resource Management in 2000. He aso earned a degree from Le Cordon Bleu in 2007, where he studied Major Hotel / Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts.


Counes graduated from Mahopac High School in Mahopac, N.Y. in 1996, where he was named All-State and New York State Most Valuable Player, while leading his team to the State Championship.
