Erin McGaffigan

McGaffigan stepped in as the head coach of the Saxons in the fall of 2017 as the ninth coach in program history. During her first year she coached Miranda Gilbert '18 to Empire 8 All-Conference Second Team honors, marking the program's first Empire 8 recognition since 2015 and first Second Team recognition since 2008.


McGaffigan was the Allegheny College women's lacrosse assistant coach from August, 2015 until June 2017. While at Allegheny she was also a Care Intervention and Risk Assessment Team Responder. She coached 11 NCAC All-Conference Team honorees, two First Team All-Region members in 2016 and 2017, one Second Team All-Region recipient in 2017 and one NCAC Midfielder of the Year. McGaffigan also coached a player who broke the school record for points as well as a goalkeeper who broke the school record in career wins in 2016.


McGaffigan also has international coaching experience as the head lacrosse coach for the Deutscher Hockey Club Hannover in Germany where she coached for a year with the team being made up with 16-34-year-old players. She coached the team to a fourth, consecutive National Championship title. Out of her players there, she had eight 2017 German National Team finalist pool members and three 2015 U-19 National Team members.


Prior to her experience overseas, McGaffigan was the assistant women's lacrosse coach at Fitchburg State University from 2011 until 2014 and the assistant lacrosse coach at Central Lacrosse Bay State Games in Massachusetts from 2007 until 2013.


McGaffigan participated in the NCAA Women Coaches Academy in Denver, CO in June of 2016 and Camp Hallerstein in Schwarzenbach/Saale, Germany in May of 2015.


She graduated from Norwich University with a Bachelor of Science in nursing in May of 2011. McGaffigan was also a midshipman, NROTC from 2007 until 2010 and was in the Norwich University Corps of Cadets as a Regimental S2 Major in 2010-11. She played for the women's lacrosse team from 2007 until 2010 and helped her team claim GNAC Conference Championship titles in 2008 and 2010.

Johanna McCormick

McCormick joined the Alfred University women's lacrosse coaching staff in August of 2018. She joins the Saxons after spending a season at Wells College where she served as volunteer assistant coach for the Express. She has also been involved with Southern Tier lacrosse clubs 607 Lacrosse and Ride lacrosse, which serves both Sections IV and V.


While at Wells, McCormick aided the Express to six wins, marking the most wins the program has earned in a single season in seven years. On top of that, she helped the team to their first NEAC Conference Tournament in three years. McCormick specialized in coaching goalies and draw controls.


McCormick brings to Alfred a diverse back ground of both College and high school involvement. McCormick’s collegiate coaching is the combination of Wells College and SUNY Broome (JUCO). Her high school experience includes coaching both varsity and junior varsity as the defensive & draw controls coach for Union Endicott H.S. in Endicott, NY, and the Greenhill School - Preparatory College in Addison, Texas.


McCormick played goalie for Eleanor Shriver Magee (Alfred’s 1st. Women’s Lacrosse Coach) at Washington College (Chestertown, MD.). She played goalie in H.S. both in Texas (Berkner H.S – All State), & Australia - New South Wales’s Starting Goalie for the national tournament. (Stella Maris Prep College, Manly Aus.)
