Jen Willis

Coach Willis embarks on her 13th season as head coach of the Albright women's lacrosse program. Willis carried momentum from the 2022 season into 2023 returning to postseason play for the first time since the 2021 season. Willis led a number of student-athletes to individual success in 2023 to cap off their strong Albright careers. Under coach Wills's guidance, Lauren China, Ashleigh Tortorice and Chloe Fornoff all finished within the top nine for total career points at Albright. Willis has her team poised for another postseason run starting in 2024.


Jen Willis enters her 12th season at the helm of Albright women's lacrosse and will look to carry the end of the 2022 season momentum into the 2023 campaign. In 2022, Coach Willis led the Lions to victories in three of their last four games including a thrilling double overtime win vs Hood to end the 2022 season. Coach Willis helped Lauren China achieve and pass the 100 goal threshold in China's carrer during the 2022 season.


Willis led the Lions to a 7-7 record in the 2021 season while coaching three athletes to All-Conference honors.


Willis pioneered a 12-win season in 2019 that set a new program record for wins in a single-season. The Lions finished 2019 with a 12-6 overall record, and 6-2 record in MAC Commonwealth play. The Lions qualified for the MAC Commonwealth Tournament for the fifth-straight season as they fell to Widener in the opening round, 14-10. She once again saw four athletes earn All-Conference honors, and Sophie Bass becoming the second player in program history to earn IWLCA All-Region honors.


She led the Lions to match their most wins in a single-season for 2018 as the Lions went 11-7 overall with a 5-3 mark in MAC Commonwealth play. Albright qualified for the MAC Commonwealth Tournament for the fourth-straight season as the third place team, falling 11-9 to Lebanon Valley in the semifinals. Willis coached four All-Conference performers which included Sophie Bass, who garnered first-team honors. She also saw goalkeeper Terae Mason shatter four Albright single-season goalie records as a freshman.


In 2017, the Lions finished with a 10-7 record while posting a 6-2 record in MAC Commonwealth play. Albright closed the regular season with a 14-3 win at crosstown rival Alvernia, its fourth consecutive win in the series. Albright qualified for the MAC Commonwealth tournament for the third straight season, losing to Stevenson in the semifinals. Willis coached freshman Devon Mela to MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year honors to highlight six selections to the All-MAC Commonwealth teams.


In 2016, Willis led the Lions to the best season in school history. Albright finished the season with an 11-7 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the MAC Commonwealth. The Lions earned a spot in the MAC Commonwealth tournament for the second consecutive season and hosted Lycoming, which marked Albright's first-ever home tournament contest. The Lions edged the Warriors 16-15 to notch the program's first MAC Commonwealth Tournament win in school history to advance to the semifinals.


Her first senior class was during the 2015 season and the Lions responded by rewarding that group with its first-ever MAC Commonwealth Tournament appearance. Albright finished the season with a 9-8 overall record to post the second winning season in school history.


Jen WillisThe Lions went 8-9 in 2014 with a more difficult schedule than the previous two seasons. Albright defeated Division II Colorado Mesa on the road and beat rival Alvernia 13-10, missing a Commonwealth Conference playoff spot by just one goal on tiebreakers.


The Lions totaled four All-Conference selections, while sophomore Amanda Smith added Academic All-MAC honors to her first team All-Commonwealth status. Rookie Giuliana Rizzotti was named Albright's Freshman Athlete of the Year and captain Meghan Wilson was presented with the MAC Giant Steps Award for her leadership and success following personal adversity.


In 2013, Albright went 10-6 in just its second varsity season. The Lions had three All-Commonwealth Conference selections, including the first player in program history selected to the first team (Smith).


As the program's first-ever head coach in 2012, Willis led the Lions to victory in their inaugural game- as Albright scored the third-fastest goal to start a contest in NCAA Division III history en route to a 16-7 win over Lancaster Bible. The Red and White also took their home opener that season as well.


Willis came to Albright after spending three seasons at Utica College, Utica, N.Y. As head coach, she is responsible for all facets of the new women’s lacrosse program, which was established as part of a $1 million gift from the John K. Roessner III Trust.


During her three seasons with the Pioneers, Willis’s duties included planning practice schedules, player evaluations, breakdown of game-day film, on-site scouting, and organizing game-day strategy. She was also in charge of player recruitment, arranging campus visits, and distributing recruiting newsletters.


As a student-athlete, Willis was one of the most decorated players to ever compete at SUNY Cortland in Cortland, N.Y. Among her many accolades, she was named a two-time Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaching Association (IWLCA) All-American (2007 and 2006). She was also a four-time First Team All-SUNYAC (State University of New York Athletic Conference) selection, and was named the SUNYAC Player of the Year in 2004 and 2006.


Willis sits third all-time in career points with 295, second in career assists with 117, 11th in single-season points with 82, 17th in single-season goals with 56, and is ranked second and third for most assists in a season.


From 2003-2007, Willis led the Red Dragons to a 65-13 overall record, four NCAA Tournament appearances, and four SUNYAC championships. In 2006, she played a major part in leading the Red Dragons to their first “final four” appearance in the national tournament.


Willis graduated from Cortland in December 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and English. She was named to the Dean’s List three times and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.1. She earned her master’s of science in liberal studies and in teaching from Albright in 2017.


On top of her coaching responsibilities, Willis also serves as the Senior Women Administrator in the athletics department and leads the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. In Fall of 2020, Willis was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director.

James Malone

James Malone begins his sixth season as the Albright head men's lacrosse coach in 2022. James Malone


In 2021, the Lions finished the season with a record of 2-9 while Malone coached Connor Graser to earn All-Conference honors.


Malone coached the Lions to a 3-3 record before the 2020 season was shut down to the COVID-19 outbreak.


In 2018, Malone guided the Lions to five wins and saw three players earn All-MAC Commonwealth Honors. JJ Boliaux earned first team honors, while James Gorman tallied second team honors, and Ryan Aler earned honorable mention. In addition, Boliaux earned ECAC and IMLCA All-Region honors as well.


In 2017, Malone led the Lions to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament championship game in his first season. Albright's six wins in conference play tied the school record. Senior Cam Cetrone was named the MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year, and he was one of five Albright players to be named All-MAC Commonwealth. Andrew Potter joined Cetrone on the First Team.


Malone spent three seasons as an assistant at Dickinson prior to his time at Albright. In three seasons with the Red Devils, Malone mentored 16 all-conference selections and two USILA All-America selections. The program reached No. 7 in the nation in 2014 and No. 15 in 2016 while making a pair of conference tournament appearances in Malone's time with the team.


Prior to his time at Dickinson, Malone spent four seasons as the head coach at Mercyhurst North East College. He elevated a struggling program into a nationally-ranked contender, reaching the playoffs for the first time in school history in 2011 and again in 2012. The Saints finished 2011 ranked 11th in the National Junior College Athletic Association. During his time there, Malone coached 10 NJCAA Academic All-Americans, 15 all-region selections and 18 all-conference honorees.


As a player, Malone was a team captain and a four-year starter at College of the Holy Cross. He was the team's Rookie of the Year as a freshman and was selected to play in the NEILA East-West Senior All-Star Game at the conclusion of his playing career, serving as captain of the East team
