Alice Lee

Alice Lee enters her seventh season as the Head Coach of the Williams College women's lacrosse team in 2024.

In 2023, Lee led Williams to a milestone season in just her fourth full competitive season on the field. The 10-6 team saw consistent national rankings, reaching as high as No. 14, the first national ranking for the Ephs since 2014.

The Ephs’ NESCAC record (5-5) ranked as second best in the last 18 years of the program, securing them a NESCAC Tournament bid for the first time since 2016. Other milestones include key wins against No. 7 Colby and No. 15 Bowdoin, only the fourth time the Ephs have beaten Bowdoin in the last 18 matchups.

The Ephs’ stingy defense earned them a third-place ranking in conference for goals-against average and caused turnovers per game, drastically increasing their caused turnovers from 113 in 2022 to 170 in 2023, while also causing their opponents to reduce their clearing percentage from 82% in 2022 to 78% in 2023.

The high-powered offense also saw an increase from 394 shots and 162 goals in 2022 to 444 shots and 191 goals in 2023. The Ephs were recognized for on-field performances with NESCAC All-Conference, National Co-Defensive Player of the Week and IWLCA All-American honors.

Lee was announced as the Head Coach of Women’s Lacrosse at Williams on May 23, 2017. During Lee’s early tenure, the Ephs made a number of strides across the field with year-to-year improvements in shots per game, shots, free-position percentages, caused turnovers, ground balls and clear percentages. Though the Ephs had been in contention for the NESCAC tournament in Lee's early years, their momentum was cut short after COVID-19 canceled their 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Overall, Lee’s teams have excelled in the classroom, earning IWLCA Academic Honor Squad recognition each year. Lee has coached one IWLCA All-American, one Inside Lacrosse Women's DIII Media All-American, seven IWLCA All-Regional honorees, five All-NESCAC performers, one national co-defensive player of the week, one offensive player of the week and two NESCAC performers of the week.

Lee has coached in two professional women’s lacrosse leagues from 2017-20. She started as one of the two assistants for the New England Storm team of the United Women’s Lacrosse Professional League from 2017-18. She became an Assistant Coach for the New England Command Team in the inaugural Women’s Professional Lacrosse League from 2018-20, where she helped coach the New England Command to its first-ever Championship in 2018.

Lee is an active member of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and was honored with the President’s Award in 2022 as a member of the IWLCA Racial Equity Task Force for her work to promote accessibility and inclusion in the sport of women’s lacrosse.

Prior to Williams:

Lee was the top assistant at Middlebury (2015-17), where she helped guide the Panthers to the 2016 NESCAC and NCAA titles and was named the IWLCA Division III National Assistant Coach of the Year.

Before arriving at Middlebury, Lee was the Assistant Coach at Amherst College (2011-15), where she helped lead the Mammoths' 2014 team to the NCAA Final Four and the 2012 team to the Sweet 16. Lee was a primary recruiter for the Mammoths and supported the athletic department on The Diversity and Inclusion Committee and advised the Student-Athlete Advisory Council.

Lee began her intercollegiate coaching career with a two-year stint as an Assistant Coach at Buffalo State University (2009-11). Both years, Lee was at Buffalo State, the Bengals advanced to the semifinals of the SUNYAC Tournament and the 2011 team climbed to 19th in the IWLCA national poll.

Lee received her Master of Science in Sports Management at the University of Massachsuetts, Amherst.

A former goalkeeper at Division I Central Connecticut State University, Lee was a two-time captain, a three-time all-conference selection, voted outstanding teammate and most valuable player. She is the current record holder of five Central Connecticut State records and an NCAA Division I stats leader in three categories.
