Kelly McPartland

Kelly McPartland embarks on her second season at the helm of the women's lacrosse program in 2023.

A two-time National Champion at Maryland, current member of the Athletes Unlimited Professional Lacrosse League, and most recently an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Delaware, was named head women's lacrosse coach on July 19, 2021.

In her first season on Grymes Hill, McPartland guided the Seahawks to a 5-2 NEC mark and seven All-NEC competitors. The Seahawks led the NEC with 319 ground balls, 169 caused turnovers, and 9.94 ground balls per game.

McPartland also helped guide AIleen Hannan to an NEC Defensive Player of the Year nod and an All-ECAC recognition.

McPartland inherited a Seahawk program that, under Michelle Tumolo, reached a Northeast Conference-record seventh consecutive conference tournament championship game in 2021. Tumolo recently accepted the head coaching position at Army West Point.

Prior to her two seasons with the Blue Hens, McPartland spent the 2015-2019 seasons as an assistant at Columbia University, where the Lions made the program's first-ever trip to the Ivy League Tournament in 2018. A Farmingdale, N.Y. native, McPartland is also a former coach of the Long Island Yellow Jackets lacrosse club, whose players have gone on to D-I programs across the country.

McPartland also played professionally in the Women's Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) as a midfielder for the Fight. Prior to joining the WPLL for its inaugural season in 2018, she played for the Long Island Sound in the United Women's Lacrosse League for two years. In November 2018, McPartland was part of a 15-player team that traveled to Japan with the WPLL to help continue growing the sport around the world.

As a member of the US Women's National Lacrosse Team from 2011 to 2015, McPartland won a gold medal for Team USA at the 2011 FIL Women's U-19 World Lacrosse Championship in Hanover, Germany.

Prior to joining Columbia, McPartland spent four years as a standout midfielder at the University of Maryland. As a Terrapin, she helped lead Maryland to back-to-back National Championships in 2014 and 2015. As a junior, she finished the season with 61 goals and 94 points on her way to earning All-American honors. A team captain as a senior, McPartland was also a three-time NCAA All-Tournament Team member and a three-time selection to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List (2013, 2014, 2015).

McPartland graduated from Maryland in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in hearing and speech sciences.

Bill McCutcheon

Bill McCutcheon completed his fifth season as head men's lacrosse coach in 2023.

In 2023 under McCutcheon, the Seahawks broke a program record in conference victories while playing the program's first neutral site game since March 25, 2017. In the neutral site game, Wagner defeated Queens at Goucher, Wagner also extended its neutral site record to 3-1.

Wagner's man-down defense finished in top-20 in the nation with a 67.6% kill rate. The Seahawks were the least penalized team throughout MAAC play.

Eli Fisher was named the USILA Senior All-Star Game MVP, First Team All-MAAC Short Stick Midfielder while teammate Brendan Higgins was Second Team All-MAAC as a Long Stick Midfielder. Higgins finished his career as a two-time All-Conference honoree while finishing fifth in program history in caused turnovers. Danny Brady finished the 2023 season ninth in the nation in save percentage at 54.8% and fifth in the nation with 14.21 saves per game.

In the classroom, the Seahawks placed 20 athletes on the MAAC All-Academic Team.

Ben Stewart was drafted 23rd overall (second round) of the NLL Draft by the San Diego Seals. Stewart's pick was the highest by a Wagner athtete.

In 2022 under McCutcheon, the Seahawks saw three players receive All-Northeast Conference honors when Danny Brady and Brendan Higgins garnered Second Team All-Conference while Quin Hoke was named to the NEC Rookie Team. The last time multiple Seahawks earned All-NEC honors was 2017 and this marked the third time in program history that Wagner has had three players represented on All-NEC teams (2011, 2015, 2022).

In March, the Seahawks posted back-to-back wins at Hameline Field over NJIT and Mercer. It was the first time the Green & White had won consecutive games since March 2019.

During the 2021 season in an 11-9 win over Sacred Heart on April 21, the Seahawks posted their largest comeback victory (four goals) since rallying from three goals down against NJIT in March 2016.

Following his first season at the helm in 2019, McCutcheon helped Stephen Dwyer earn All-NEC Rookie Team selection.

McCutcheon came to Grymes Hill in October of 2018 following a five-year stint as an assistant coach at Monmouth University, where he was a member of the program's inaugural staff in 2013 and helped develop the Hawks into a consistent, respected, perennial contender in the MAAC.

While at Monmouth, in just the program's fifth season in 2017, McCutcheon played a key role assisting head coach Brian Fisher in guiding the Hawks to the MAAC regular season and conference championship, as Monmouth achieved a perfect 6-0 league record and overall mark of 14-4 that year.

Following an All-American playing career at New Jersey's Chatham High School, McCutcheon played one season at Johns Hopkins University before going on to become a standout on attack for three years at Towson University where he compiled 38 goals, 21 assists and 59 points in his final two seasons.

As a senior at Towson, McCutcheon tied for the team lead with 23 goals and 15 assists and paced the Tigers with 38 points en route to earning Second-Team All-Conference honors. A team captain, McCutcheon won the Tiger Leadership Award, and competed in the 2009 USILA North-South Senior All-Star Game.

"I'm thrilled to add Bill McCutcheon to the Wagner athletics family and am extremely confident that he will lead our men's lacrosse program to tremendous success," said Seahawk athletic director Walt Hameline. "Bill checks all the boxes as a former local high school All-American, a tremendous collegiate student-athlete, and, above all else, the work that he did in helping to building Monmouth into a respected, model program in such a short span of time."

In addition to having 17 Monmouth players named to the 2017 MAAC Men's Lacrosse All-Academic Team, the Hawks achieved a number of program firsts that year, including defeating a ranked opponent with a road win at 16th-ranked Villanova to open the season. As that magical season wore on, the Hawks received votes in both national polls and rose to No. 19 in the Maverik Men's Lacrosse Division I Media Poll after winning the MAAC Tournament title.

Individually, senior goalkeeper Nick Hreshko was chosen as the league's Defensive Player of the Year and was one of a program-record five Hawks to earn First-Team All-MAAC distinction.

"I am incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to be the next men's lacrosse coach at Wagner College, said McCutcheon. "I would like to thank Walt Hameline and (deputy athletic director) Brendan Fahey for their support, guidance and insight throughout the hiring process and am excited to get to work with our team."

"It has been a dream of mine to become a head Division I men's lacrosse coach and I can't think of a better place to have the opportunity to take the next steps in my coaching career," he added. "Wagner Lacrosse has been a program built on the foundations of hard work and a blue collar attitude, and we will continue to make strides in the right direction while also developing for the future. It is a great time to be a Seahawk!"

"I want to also thank the Monmouth University staff and administrators for their support and guidance throughout the years and I will look forward to competing against them on the playing field going forward."

In 2018, Monmouth had four players earn All-MAAC First Team honors, headed by Bryce Wasserman, who closed his standout career with program records in goals (99), assists (50) and points (149). Following the 2018 campaign, Wasserman became the first Monmouth player to be chosen in the annual Major League Lacrosse Draft when he was selected by the Denver Outlaws in the seventh round.

McCutcheon was on the sideline for the Hawks' breakout season in 2015, as Monmouth posted its first victory in program history with a 10-9 win at Rutgers in late February, and went on to earn six wins and a spot in the MAAC sem-finals in just the program's second season of existence.

Before joining the Monmouth staff, McCutcheon served a three-year stint as the head varsity lacrosse coach at Millburn High School, after serving one season an assistant coach and boy's junior varsity coach at Chatham High School.

A former seventh grade language arts teacher and veteran of the lacrosse club circuit, McCutcheon guided his Millburn teams to a combined 40-20 record in three seasons, including a 14-7 mark in 2013, while advancing to the state semifinals. McCutcheon led his 2012 team to a state semifinal appearance, while the 2011 squad posted a 14-5 record and qualified for the New Jersey state playoffs in his first season as head coach.

In addition to being an All-American in lacrosse as a senior at Chatham, McCutcheon was a three-time all-state selection and earned all-conference honors three times. A three-sport athlete, McCutcheon also played ice hockey and football, earning all-area honors three times on the gridiron along with all-conference accolades twice.

McCutcheon earned a bachelor's of science degree in English literature from Towson in 2009.
