Anne Versprille

Anne Versprille enters her eighth season as the MIT women's lacrosse head coach and physical education and wellness instructor. A two-time NEWMAC and IWLCA Regional Coach of the Year, the Engineers advanced to the 2023 NEWMAC Championship, earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and received a first-round bye.


Versprille came to MIT from Endicott College, where she served as an assistant coach for the Gulls for two seasons. At Endicott, she was responsible for coaching the goaltenders, film breakdown and assisting with recruiting, practice planning and coaching. In both of her two seasons, the Gulls advanced to The Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament, including reaching the league finals in 2016. Versprille also coached six IWLCA All-Region selections, 12 All-Conference players, one ECAC New England All-Star and one conference Defender of the Year.


In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Versprille was a four-year standout goaltender at Springfield College, where she graduated from in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in movement and sports studies. A two-year team captain, she was a three-time NEWMAC All-Academic selection, the 2013 NEWMAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player and was named to the All-Conference Second Team in both 2012 and 2013.


In her final season in 2014, Versprille was named as the NEWMAC Player of the Year and was a First Team All-Conference honoree, IWLCA Berkshire All-Region First Team selection and member of the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.


Versprille was selected to participate in the 2017 NCAA Women Coaches Academy.

Kyra Schwartzman

Kyra Schwartzman joined the MIT women’s lacrosse coaching staff at the start of the 2023 season. She helped guide the Engineers to the NEWMAC Championship and an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, resulting in NEWMAC and IWLCA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year honors.


Schwartzman began her intercollegiate playing career at Merrimack College where she started 16 of 17 games and posted 14 goals, three assists, 14 draw controls, and nine groundballs. She went on to play three seasons at Wheaton College (Mass.). A two-year captain, Schwartzman played in all 41 games, starting 39, and produced 113 goals, 23 assists, 59 groundballs, and 35 draw controls.


Schwartzman graduated from Wheaton in 2020 with a B.A. in psychology and public health along with a minor in U.S. economics. She went on to receive a master’s degree in public health and a concentration in healthcare management from Boston University in 2022.


Schwartzman is currently managing the 3d New England Girls Lacrosse Program, primarily working on the high school side of the club and assisting the recruiting director.

Tyler O’Keefe

The 2022 NEWMAC and 2022 NEILA Coach of the Year, Tyler O’Keefe enters his seventh season as the MIT Walter Alessi Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach. Under his tutelage, the Engineers captured the program’s first NEWMAC Championship in 2022 and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.


Prior to his arrival at MIT, O’Keefe was an assistant coach at Williams College for two years. He was the program’s defensive coordinator, head recruiting coordinator and coached the face-off specialists. O’Keefe coached four All-NESCAC performers, one NEILA All-Star, one NEILA Honorable Mention honoree, and two USILA Honorable Mention All-Americans during his time with the Ephs.


O’Keefe’s other collegiate coaching experience includes stints as an assistant at both Rhodes College in 2014-15 and at his alma mater, Springfield College, from 2012-14. As a four-year student-athlete for the Pride, O’Keefe was a team captain as a senior and a two-time Pilgrim League All-Conference honoree. His teams captured four straight Pilgrim League Championships and appeared in the NCAA Division III Tournament in each of his four seasons.


In the classroom at Springfield, O’Keefe earned his Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice in 2012 and is working towards completing his Master of Science degree in athletic administration. He was also a member of the Springfield College Criminal Justice Club and worked as a supervisor in the Office of Special Programs at Springfield.
