Jackie Dando

Jackie Dando, who won better than 62 percent of her games as head women’s lacrosse coach at Lebanon Valley over the previous seven seasons, was named the new head coach of the Bucknell women’s lacrosse program on Dec. 23, 2019.

Dando led the Bison to a 3-5 record during a 2020 campaign abbreviated due to the COVID-19 public health threat. She won her first two games at the helm of the program, as Bucknell dispatched Sacred Heart (18-9) and Binghamton (16-9) in commanding fashion.

In 2021, Dando's Bison went 3-6 (3-5 Patriot League) and placed two on the All-Patriot League Team. Bucknell finished one spot shy of clinching the South Division's final bid to that season's Patriot League Tournament.

Dando took over the Lebanon Valley women’s lacrosse program in 2013, just three years after it was reinstated as a varsity sport, and in the seven years since then the team compiled an 82-49 (.626) overall record and a 41-14 (.745) mark in the MAC Commonwealth Conference. The Dutchmen qualified for the conference tournament in each of those seven seasons, culminating with the program’s very first league championship in 2019. After beating Stevenson 10-5 in the MAC Commonwealth final, Dando’s squad then defeated Merchant Marine 13-11 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament before falling to eventual runner-up Salisbury in the second round.

Dando was named MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year in 2018, when her team went 13-5 overall, 7-1 in league play, and advanced to the tournament final for the first time. Her teams captured ECAC Division III Tournament titles in 2013 and 2014, and in her seven years at Lebanon Valley Dando coached three All-Americans, eight IWLCA All-Region selections, six IWLCA North-South All-Star Game participants, four conference players of the year, one conference rookie of the year, and 18 all-conference honorees.

Dando’s Lebanon Valley teams also excelled in the classroom. The Dutchmen were recognized as an IWLCA Academic Honor Roll Squad in each of the last seven years. In addition to her coaching duties, Dando was the advisor for Lebanon Valley’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and she coordinated the LVC Step UP program, which promotes bystander intervention.

A native of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Dando graduated from Messiah College with a degree in journalism in 2009. She was a four-year starter and two-year captain on the Messiah lacrosse team, and she helped lead the squad to the first two MAC championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in school history. She was a two-time Academic All-American, and at the time of her graduation she ranked eighth in team history with 115 career goals, seventh with 44 assists, and eighth with 159 points. Dando also played one season of field hockey at Messiah and was part of a team that went all the way to the national championship game in 2005.

Dando got her start in coaching as an assistant at Haverford in 2010 and 2011. She helped guide the Fords to a school-record 13 wins in 2010 and the first two postseason appearances in team history. Dando was named interim head coach at Haverford in the summer of 2011 before departing for an assistant coach position at Villanova for the 2012 season.

Dando also has extensive club and international coaching experience. This past summer she traveled to Australia as a coach with the Beyond Sports Tour, and she has plans to go to Italy in the Summer of 2020 as a coach with the AIST Tour.

Dando served as head coach of the Xtreme Lacrosse Club from 2013-18 and of the Philly Blast Lacrosse Club in 2012. She was the director and host of the Summer Genesis Club Tournament in 2016, 2018 and 2019.

Katie Lasater

Katie Lasater joined the Bucknell women's lacrosse program as an assistant coach in the fall of 2022. Lasater came to Bucknell from Washington and Lee, where in 2022 she helped the Generals to a 19-3 record and a run to the NCAA Division III Tournament quarterfinals.

"I have known Katie for several years, and I am very excited to welcome her to our coaching staff," said Dando. "Her most recent coaching experience at Washington and Lee has prepared her well for the transition to Bucknell, as she truly understands and appreciates the student-athlete experience. In addition, Katie's experience and passion for recruiting will elevate our incoming classes."

In the spring of 2022, Lasater coached six Old Dominion Athletic Conference all-stars, including the Defensive Player of the Year, as well as one IWLCA Third Team All-American. The Generals tied a school record with 19 wins, captured ODAC regular-season and tournament titles, and won two NCAA Tournament games before falling to Gettysburg in the quarterfinals.

In addition to her work as an assistant women's lacrosse coach at Washington and Lee, Lasater also served as a physical education instructor, teaching full-semester fitness classes.

Lasater is a native of Malvern, Pa., and has extensive playing and coaching experience in her home state. In the spring of 2021, Lasater was an assistant girls' lacrosse coach and administration assistant in the West Chester (Pa.) Area School district. She was previously an assistant coach at the collegiate level at Kutztown (2018-21) and Arcadia (2017-18), and since 2017 she has coached with the Philly Blast Lacrosse Club.

Lasater is a 2016 graduate of Cabrini University, where she earned a degree in marketing with minors in sports management and finance. As an attacker on the Cabrini lacrosse team, she totaled 126 career points on 94 goals and 32 assists. She led the Cavaliers to four straight league championships and NCAA Tournament appearances and was named the MVP of the 2016 Colonial States Athletic Conference championship game. Liza Oakley

Liza Oakley joined the Bucknell women's lacrosse staff as an assistant coach in August 2022. Oakley, formerly a standout defender at Mount St. Mary’s, has made previous coaching stops at Butler, Fresno State, and Lynchburg.

At Bucknell, Oakley serves as the team’s recruiting coordinator and defensive coordinator, among other duties.

“I am very excited to welcome coach Liza Oakley into our Bucknell women's lacrosse family,” said head coach Jackie Dando at the time of her hiring. “What really stood out to me in this search was Liza’s enthusiasm, work ethic, and desire to invest in our program. I have known Liza for a few years, and I am elated that the timing was right for her to join the staff. She will be an excellent coach for our defensive unit and a mentor to all of our players. I look forward to her spearheading our recruiting efforts, as we continue to bring in impactful classes.”

Oakley spent the 2022 season as an assistant coach at Butler, where she served as the defensive coordinator and helped mentor two Second Team All-Big East honorees.

Oakley also coached the defense and goalies at Fresno State during the 2021 season, and she was part of a Bulldogs squad that advanced to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship game for the first time, despite a roster of only 18 student-athletes. Fresno State led the MPSF in caused turnovers and ground balls, and the Bulldogs’ first-year starting goalie was ranked fourth nationally in saves per game at season’s end.

Oakley coached the MPSF Rookie of the Year, four All-MPSF honorees, and four MPSF All-Tournament Team honorees during her season in Fresno.

Oakley’s coaching career began in June of 2018 as a graduate assistant at the University of Lynchburg in Virginia. She served as the offensive and draw team coordinator during the 2018-19 season and then oversaw the defense and draw unit in 2019-20. Oakley coached two All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference selections in each of her two seasons.

At Lynchburg, Oakley also coordinated the team’s travel, fundraising, and academic programs, all while earning her MBA as a Dean’s List student.

Oakley did her undergraduate studies at Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, Md., where she graduated cum laude with a major in finance and a minor in economics. Oakley was a four-year letterwinner as a defender and a three-time Northeast Conference All-Academic selection for the Mountaineers. As a senior in 2018, she helped her team rank third in Division I in scoring defense.

Oakley also has coaching experience with Valley Select Lacrosse and Blue Ridge Lacrosse Club in Virginia, and with Dodgers Lacrosse in Hartford, Conn.

Frank Fedorjaka

After two stints as an assistant coach at Bucknell spanning nearly a decade, Frank Fedorjaka took over as the head men's lacrosse coach in 2006 when he succeeded longtime mentor Sid Jamieson. In 2011, Fedorjaka guided the team to its first Patriot League Tournament title and second NCAA Tournament appearance; since then, he has cemented Bucknell’s status as an annual Patriot League title contender and national top-20 program.

Fedorjaka became only the second head coach in Bucknell lacrosse history, following in the footsteps of Jamieson, an IMLCA and Bucknell Athletics Hall of Famer who founded the varsity lacrosse program in 1968.

In his 17 seasons since taking over for Jamieson, Fedorjaka has fashioned a stellar 144-96 (.600) record, including a 65-45 (.591) Patriot League ledger. The Bison have won nine or more games in 10 of his 17 seasons, including a program-record 14 in 2011, 12 in 2013 and 11 in 2018. They have also qualified for the Patriot League Tournament 13 times, including 10 years in a row between 2007 and 2016.

Including a five-year stint as head coach at Franklin & Marshall from 1994 to 1998, Fedorjaka owns a 183-127 (.590) lifetime record.

In 2013, Fedorjaka’s squad achieved a No. 6 national ranking, the highest in program history, buoyed by a 9-8 upset of No. 2 Cornell in Ithaca in March. The team finished 12-4 and advanced to the Patriot League championship game before just missing an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament despite a final RPI ranking of 12.

In his first season at the helm, Fedorjaka led the Bison to a historic victory over No. 1 Maryland — the program’s first-ever over a top-ranked team — and another top-20 road win at Penn State later in the season. The victories really began to start pouring in during year No. 2, as the Bison went 11-4, including three top-20 wins, and came within one of the school record for wins in a season. Another 10-win season followed in 2008, and the Bison advanced all the way to the Patriot League championship game for the first time.

In 2009, Fedorjaka was named Patriot League Coach of the Year for the first time after leading the Bison to a perfect 6-0 conference record and the Patriot League regular-season title. His team made it to the championship game for the second year in a row, this time dropping a one-goal heartbreaker to Navy.

In 2010, the Bison took second-ranked and eventual national champion Duke to overtime, and they again qualified for the postseason. Bucknell finished 8-6, with the six losses coming by a combined seven goals.

In 2011, the Bison finished 14-3, setting a new school record for wins in a season. They went 6-0 in the Patriot League for the second time in three years and routed Lehigh and Colgate in the PL Tournament before entering the NCAA Tournament with a No. 7 national ranking, the highest in program history at the time. Bucknell nearly upset eventual national champion Virginia in the first round, leading for most of the game before falling 13-12 in overtime. Fedorjaka was rewarded with his second Patriot League Coach of the Year award.

In 2018, Fedorjaka captured his third Patriot League Coach of the Year award after Bucknell posted an 11-4 (7-1 Patriot League) record and shared the Patriot League regular-season title with Loyola and Navy. The Bison reached the double digits in victories for the sixth time in his tenure as head coach and went an impressive 5-1 against nationally ranked opponents, which included road upsets of then No. 3 Yale (9-8 OT), the eventual national champion, and then No. 6 Loyola (12-11). Bucknell's number of victories represented a six-win improvement from 2017, when the team went 5-8 (3-5 Patriot League) and had its streak of consecutive Patriot League Tournament appearances snapped at 10 seasons. Like in 2013, the Bison narrowly missed out on an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Following the 2018 campaign, Will Sands and Sean O'Brien, who were two of six All-Patriot League honorees, were selected as All-Americans; Sands was tabbed as a Third Team All-American by USILA and Inside Lacrosse while O'Brien was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-American by USILA. In addition, a program-record four Bison were selected in the 2018 MLL Draft: Sands (Boston Cannons, 3rd round), O'Brien (Dallas Rattlers, 5th round), Matt Gilray (Denver Outlaws, 5th round) and Connor O'Hara (Denver Outlaws, 6th round); Gilray later became the third overall pick of the Buffalo Bandits in the 2018 NLL Draft.

In 2022, Bucknell shattered its school records in goals (203), assists (127) and points (330), bolstered by having Dutch Furlong (36g-20a-56p), Alston Tarry (32g-21a-53p) and Patriot League Rookie of the Year Connor Davis (45g-7a-52p) all eclipse 50 points individually. The previous standards of 179 goals, 108 assists and 287 points were all set 10 years earlier in 2012. Notably, Davis became the sixth Bison to net at least 40 goals in a single campaign; the standout freshman's 45 strikes were good for second in school history.

Known throughout his career as one of the college game’s best defensive minds, Fedorjaka’s teams annually rank among the national leaders in scoring defense, man-down defense and riding efficiency. Bucknell ranked No. 2 nationally in scoring defense in 2007.

During his tenure as head coach, Fedorjaka has mentored 66 All-Patriot League players and 10 All-Americans, including three-time All-American Austin Winter. He has also coached five Patriot League Rookie of the Year selections, one Defensive Player of the Year and one Goalie of the Year. That goalie, Nick Sciubba, led the nation in save percentage and goals against average in 2007. Twelve of Fedorjaka’s student-athletes were selected in the Major League Lacrosse Draft, including a program-record four in 2018.

Fedorjaka rejoined the Bucknell lacrosse family after serving as head coach at Franklin & Marshall for five years. Fedorjaka served as an assistant coach at Bucknell for the 1992 and 1993 seasons before going to F&M.

In Fedorjaka’s five seasons at F&M, the Diplomats compiled a 39-31 record. His 39 wins placed him in second on the school’s all-time lacrosse wins list.

In 1995, Fedorjaka was named the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s Division III Coach of the Year after leading the Diplomats to a 12-3 record and an NCAA playoff berth. In addition to his responsibilities as men’s lacrosse coach, Fedorjaka also served as an assistant coach in football and women’s soccer during his tenure at F&M.

Also while at F&M, Fedorjaka served as the Chair to the Southern ECAC Lacrosse Committee in 1997 and 1998. He served on the USILA National Ranking Committee and NCAA Advisory Committee for Division III lacrosse.

A 1989 graduate of Hobart College, Fedorjaka was a starting long-stick midfielder on three NCAA Division III national championship teams. He was also a three-year starter at wide receiver for the Statesman football team, earning All-America honors in 1988. The Rochester, N.Y., native was named Hobart’s Athlete of the Year in 1989. During his career at Hobart, he held all reception records and remained the school’s all-time leading receiver until 2004. Fedorjaka began his coaching career as a graduate assistant for two years at Springfield College (Mass.).
