Lauren Chizmar

Lauren Chizmar enters her eighth season as the Head Coach of the Seahawks Women’s Lacrosse team. Chizmar led Keiser to the programs first-ever NAIA National Championship in 2021 with a perfect 16-0 record. She was named the first-ever coach at KU in May of 2016.

2023

Posted a 16-2 overall record with a perfect 14-0 regular season for the second time in program history

The Seahawks were 6-0 in the inaugural year of the Sun Conference and earned the Sun Conference Regular Season Championship

Keiser advanced all the way to the NAIA Semifinals for the third time in program history

Coached six All-Sun Conference players including one first team member

Guided Rebecca Gibson and Talia Myers to NAIA All-America honors

Off the field, Keiser received four Academic All-Conference awards and two NAIA Scholar Athlete awards


2022

Led Keiser to it's third Mid-South Regular Season Championship and second Tournament Championship

The Seahawks finished the season with a 15-4 overall record and 6-0 in conference play

Coached the Seahawks to their third consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearance

Collected eight All-Conference awards and three NAIA All-American honors

In the classroom, the Seahawks earned 10 Academic All-Conference honors


2021

Guided Keiser to their first-ever NAIA National Championship, defeating No. 2 Cumberlands, 13-11

Coached KU to the Mid-South Regular Season Championship and Tournament Championship

Led the Seahawks to their first-ever perfect season with a 16-0 overall record and 6-0 conference mark

Went 8-0 against teams ranked inside the NAIA Coaches Poll

Aided in KU reaching their highest ranking in program history of No. 1

Netted Mid-South Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Defender of the Year, and Coach of the Year honors

2020

The Seahawks were 4-2 overall when the season was cancelled on 3/16/20 due to CoVID 19 Virus

Keiser won their lone Mid-South game against Georgetown

Went 1-1 against teams ranked in the NAIA Top 25 poll

Opened the season with back-to-back road wins

Off the field, Keiser had 12 Academic All-Conference honorees


2019

Led the Seahawks to a 14-5 overall record and their second straight appearance in the NAIA National Tournament

Keiser went 4-1 during the inaugural year of the Mid-South conference and earned a share of the Regular Season Championship

The Seahawks won their first national tournament game in the quarterfinals against No. 5 Marian, 18-9.

Helped KU to their highest ranking of No. 3 on April 9

Netted seven All-Conference players and three NAIA All-Americans

Off the field, Keiser received six Academic All-Conference awards and two NAIA Scholar Athlete awards


2018

Named the NAIA National Coach of the Year after advancing to their first national tournament

Coached Keiser to a 12-5 overall record and a spot in the NAIA National Tournament

Led the squad to their first home victory on March, 5, 2018, against Barton by a final of 16-9

Broke into the NAIA Coaches poll for the first time in program history on Feb. 27 with a ranking of No. 9 and climbed as high as fourth

Aided in eight players earning All-Conference honors including five on the First Team

Coached two players to the NAIA All-American team


2017

Coached five players to All-Conference awards including one to the NAIA All-American squad

Led the inaugural team to a 1-13 record with a roster of 18 players

The Seahawks led the nation in saves per game with 11.71. Mary Reich was fifth in the country with 10.14 saves per game

Keiser was fourth in the NAIA in total saves with 164, while Reich was seventh with 142


Pre-Keiser

Prior to Keiser, Chizmar spent three seasons as the Assistant Coach at Florida Southern College. In her three years as an assistant, she helped lead Florida Southern to their first NCAA Division II National Championship in 2016. She also aided in winning two SSC Regular Season Championships and one Tournament Championship.


Playing Career

Chizmar played one season at Lock Haven University and was a member of the school's 2009 NCAA Division II finalist women's lacrosse team.


After playing one year at Lock Haven, Chizmar transferred to St. Mary's College of Maryland, where she was a three-year member of the women's lacrosse team and a two-year member of the field hockey program.


During her three seasons at St. Mary's, Chizmar amassed 55 goals and 15 assists for a total of 70 points and netted multiple game-winning goals, all while taking the majority of the draws as the squad's draw specialist. In field hockey, she was a defender and earned the Seahawk Spirit Award in both 2010 and 2011.


Personal

Chizmar earned her Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from St. Mary's College of Maryland in 2012 and also earned a minor in Religion while at St. Mary's College. She received her Master's degree cum laude in College Athletic Administration from Coker College in Hartsville, S.C., in December of 2014.

Logan Smet

Smet’s Summary

Smet is entering her third season as the Assistant Women’s Lacrosse coach

Pre-Keiser

Smet comes from the club coaching scene, working with MC Elite since 2015 as the head coach for the 2023 and 2025 teams. She also spent time at Georgetown Preparatory School in Rockville, Maryland.


Playing Career

Smet was a four-year member of the women’s lacrosse team at NCAA Division 1, Monmouth University. In that time, she tallied 24 goals, 18 ground balls, and 10 assists. Off the field, she was a three-time member of the MAAC All-Academic team.


Personal

Smet earned her Bachelors in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations from Monmouth University in 2019. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Sports Administration from Arkansas State University.

Patrick Johnston

Patrick Johnston enters his eighth season as the Head Coach of the Keiser University Men’s Lacrosse team. Johnston has led the Seahawks to six NAIA appearances, four Final Four’s, one runner-up finish, and one national championship.

Guided the Seahawks to a 61-25 overall record with a 13-3 record in conference games

Coached Keiser to six NAIA National Tournaments, including four Final Four’s, one runner-up finish, and one championship.

The Seahawks are 26-19 all-time against teams ranked inside the NAIA Top 25 poll

Aided in KU receiving 15 NAIA All-American awards

Yielded 42 All-Conference players, three AII Player and Offensive Player of the Years, one AAC Freshman of the Year, and one Defensive Player of the Year.

2023

Led the Seahawks to their first NAIA National title as well as their first AAC tournament title.

Improved Keiser's postseason record to 6-5.

Named NAIA Coach of the Year.

Coached four NAIA First-Team All-Americans, (Provines, Tomei, Badik, and Marshall) and six All-AAC performers.

Led Keiser to its first No. 1 ranking (3/8/23).

In 2023, the Seahawks set program highs in goals, groundballs, faceoff wins, points, caused turnovers, assists, saves, and wins.

KU closed its 2023 season by defeating six consecutive top-10 opponents.

Mentored AAC Defensive Player of the Year Christian Tomei.

Keiser went 9-0 in neutral site games, 5-0 at home, and took down two NCAA Division II squads.

The Seahawks won five games versus top-5 opponents.

KU went 3-1 at home including a win against the sixth-ranked team in the country

2018

2017

Named the AII Coach of the Year after leading the inaugural team to a 10-2 overall record and an AII Conference title

Guided the Seahawks to the NAIA National Championship game, where they fell to Reinhardt University, 10-5

Ranked as high as No. 2 in the NAIA coaches poll

The Seahawks knocked off Point University, 29-10, for the programs first-ever win

Coached ten All-Conference players, two All-Americans, and the AII Player and Offensive Player of the Year

Keiser ranked fourth in the nation in assists per game with nine and goals per game with 16.36

Craig Marentette topped the country in points per game with 6.27 and was third in goals per game with 4.45


Pre-Keiser

Prior to his time at Keiser, Johnston spent two seasons as the Head Coach of NCAA Division II Emmanuel, three seasons as an Assistant Coach at Palm Beach Atlantic, and one season as an Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator of his alma mater, the University of Alabama. In his time, he has coached 28 All-Conference players, four All-Americans, and 19 Academic All-Conference members.


Playing Career

Johnston began his playing career at Culver Military Academy before going on to play four seasons for the University of Alabama. In his junior and senior years, he was named an All-Conference Defender and Academic All-American.


After graduating, Johnston played for the Magic City Men’s Post-Collegiate lacrosse club and Treasure Coast Post-Collegiate lacrosse team in Palm Beach County.


Personal

Johnston earned his Bachelors in Education from the University of Alabama and his MA in English from the School of Letters program at Sewanee: The University of the South. Johnston is married to Courtney and has one daughter Lydia.
